Apostille services in Vanuatu

We obtain apostilles on Vanuatu birth, marriage and police certificates, diplomas, notarial and company documents so they are accepted in more than 120 Hague Convention countries.

An apostille is a certificate that confirms the origin of a public document — the signature, the capacity of the person who signed it and the seal or stamp. It replaces the longer embassy legalization process between countries that are parties to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. Vanuatu is a party to the Convention.

Some documents must first be certified or notarized before an apostille can be issued, and the destination country may also require a translation. We check the full chain at the start, so you avoid rejected documents and wasted trips.

We also help with documents issued abroad: we tell you whether they need an apostille in their country of origin before they can be used in Vanuatu, and we can often obtain them through our international network.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries accept an apostille?

All countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention — including Australia, New Zealand, France (and New Caledonia), Fiji, the USA, the UK, China, Japan and Canada. Other countries require consular legalization instead.

Can any document get an apostille?

Only public documents (or documents made public by a notary) can be apostilled. Private documents usually need to be notarized first. We tell you exactly what is needed.

Do I need a translation as well?

Often yes. If the destination country uses another language, the authority will usually require a certified translation of the document and sometimes of the apostille itself.
